Vegetable Transplants I Grow for Market
Poinsett 76 / CUCUMBER
70 days. An excellent
slicing type that averages 8½ inches long by 2½ inches in diameter when mature.
The flesh is crisp, white and tender. The best open pollinated variety for the
Southeast and Mid-Atlantic coastal areas as a disease-resistant main crop
garden variety.
Black King / Eggplant
79 days F-1 hybrid. A
vigorous grower and high yielder suitable for the home garden. Its 7"
shiny bulging oval fruits are resistant to excess heat and are very tasty.
New Ace /Sweet Red Pepper
60 days F-1 hybrid. A cinch
to grow. Resists blossom drop even in adverse weather so that almost every
flower produces. Fruits thin-walled, not blocky, turn red early, good for the
home garden.
Fordhook / Zucchini
57 days F-1 hybrid. Fordhook Zucchini has cylindrical, smooth, dark green,
straight to slightly curves fruits with creamy white, tender flesh. The space
saving bush-like plants are vigorous and the fruits are best when 6-8"
long.
Pic-n-Pic / Summer Squash
50 days F-1
hybrid. It's extremely productive and best picked when 4-6" long. Proven
tops for performance, flavor and wide adaptability.
